Degenerate’s Guide to College Football Week 4

Tough weekend as Illinois, Stanford and Purdue embarrassed us and themselves. Cal won by 13 (spread 13.5) and Ga St/WMU stopped scoring at 67 points (over 69.5). We did clean up UFC last weekend, so all wasn’t a loss, but back again this week with plenty of action + adding some leans in this week.

Record ATS: 15-18

Over/Under: 3-1

Friday, Sept. 20

FIU (1-2) @ La Tech (2-1)

TV: CBS Sports, 7p

Line: LT +7, 51.5

Scoop: LT is the better team here, hence the -7, but are 1-7 ATS in conference games @ home, and the Bulldogs have gone UNDER in 8 of last 9 at home.

Play: U51.5

Air Force (2-0) @ #20 Boise St (2-0)

TV: ESPN2, 7p

Line: Boise -7.5, 55

Scoop: Conference opener for both teams and the home team is 4-1 ATS in last 5 in this series, but the triple option is 10-2 ATS 7.5-10 points. They upset Colorado last week so I expect them to play hard on the blue turf.

Play: Air Force +7.5

Saturday, Sept. 21

#11 Michigan (2-0) @ #13 Wisconsin (2-0)

TV: FOX, 11a

Line: Wisc -3, 44.5

Scoop: It’s put up or shut up for Jim Harbough as Michigan opened up a -7 in this game during the summer and have 2 shit shows, Wisky is -3. Every sharp is all over the Wolverines here, downplaying Michigan’s struggle wins over Middle Tennessee and Army.

I’m going the other way. Wisky bent, and hell bound.

Play: Wisky -3

Michigan St (2-1) @ Northwestern (1-1)

TV: ABC, 11a

Line: MSU -9, 38

Scoop: MSU took a tough 10-7 loss to Pac 10’s Arizona St last week. My concern here is that the visitor in this series is 14-2 ATS. But the spread is 2 scores. Let’s buck it.

Play: NW +9

Western Michigan (2-1) @ Syracuse (1-2)

TV: ACC Network, 11a

Line: Cuse -4.5, 65.5

Scoop: Crazy to think Syracuse was ranked for two weeks. The ‘Cuse blew WMU out last year on the road and come off 2 ass kickings and this is a must win for this program. If a Power 5 can’t beat a MAC team, then call Jon Taffer to SHUT IT DOWN.

Play: Syracuse -4.5

#23 Cal (3-0) @ Ole Miss (2-1)

TV: ESPNU, 11a

Line: Ole Miss -2.5, 41.5

Scoop: Cal has been sneaky good, but scored just 23 points at home last week to North Texas and only 27 at home against UC Davis. Cal is also playing good defense. Like a low scoring affair here.

Play: Under 41.5

Coastal Carolina (2-1) @ UMass (0-3)

TV: NESN, 12p

Line: CC-16.5, 62

Scoop: UMass is bad at football. They lost at home to FCS Southern Illinois by 25 points. Chanticleers continue to roll.

Play: CC -16.5

Troy (1-1) @ Akron (0-3)

TV: ESPN+, 2p

Line: Troy -17.5, 56

Scoop: The Zips have been pummeled for 3 weeks and are 8-23 ATS as a home dog. 3 scores is a lot of points and Akron did play UAB tough. It’s a close call but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Play: Troy -17.5

#8 Auburn (3-0) @ #17 Texas A&M (2-1)

TV: CBS, 2:30p

Line: TAMU -3.5, 48

Scoop: The underdog has won 4 of 6 in this matchup and it’s hard to put $ on TAMU QB Kellen Mond, but this series has scored 52, 69, 47, 36 and 79 in their last 5 meetings. Hope all hell breaks loose in the 4Q.

Play: Over 48

Louisville (2-1) @ Florida St (1-2)

TV: ESPN, 2:30p

Line: FSU -6.5, 61

Scoop: I really showed be on Louisville here, because Florida State ain’t worth shit. Trends say over and the trend is my only friend.

Play: Over 61

West Virginia (2-1) @ Kansas (2-1)

TV: ESPN+, 3:30p

Line: WVU -4.5, 48.5

Scoop: What is the world coming to? WVU was a 27-pt favorite last year at home and couldn’t cover and this year? Only 4.5? WVU rolled NC State last week while KU got a big win over Boston College. I may be completely wrong here, but Rock Chalk Jayhalk!

Play: KU +4.5

Baylor (2-0) @ Rice (0-3)

TV: CBS Sports, 6p

Line: Baylor -26.5, 58

Scoop: Baylor has yet to beat anyone and Rice has lost to Army, Wake and Texas. Think that takes a toll on the Birds. Plus Matt Rhule enjoys running the score up on the weak sisters.

Play: Bears -26.5

#16 Oregon (2-1) @ Stanford (1-2)

TV: ESPN, 6p

Line: Oregon -10.5, 57.5

Scoop: Oregon cost me in week 1 after blowing a big lead to Auburn. Stanford has gotten the hell beat out of them the last 2 weeks and now must regroup in order to save their season. The Cardinal are 4-0 ATS as home dog and I think 10 may be too much.

Play: Stanford +10.5

San Jose St (1-1) @ Arkansas (2-1)

TV: SEC Network, 6:30p

Line: Arky -20.5, 61

Scoop: Don’t ask, just go with it.

Play: Under 61

Nebraska (2-1) @ Illinois (2-1)

TV: Big 10 Network, 7p

Line: NU -13, 62

Scoop: Here is the thing, Illini fucked me good last two weeks. Nebraska did two weeks ago, but they should run Lovie Smith out of college football. Illinois sucks as a home dog under Smith and I expect the Cornhuskers to blow them out.

Play: Nebraska -13 and OVER 62

Utah St (1-1) @ San Diego St (3-0)

TV: CBS Sports, 9:30p

Line: USU -4.5, 54

Scoop: San Diego St has dominated this series Utah St and are a home dog?

Play: SDSU +4.5

FIU +7

Central Michigan +30

Coastal Carolina Over 62

Georgia St/Texas St Over 63

App St +2.5

South Carolina +9.5 & Under 61.5

North Texas -18.5 & Under 58.5

Tennessee/Florida over 49

NC St -19
